OBI-IDO Training: Advancing Industrial Data Interoperability
The Ontology-Based Interoperability (OBI) – Industrial Data Ontology (IDO) Training is a structured program designed to provide professionals with the skills and expertise needed to develop modular ontologies and reference data in alignment with ISO 23726-3 IDO. This training fosters interoperability among major standardized data models and reference data libraries used in various industrial sectors.
This training program has been developed for Arrowhead fPVN (Flexible Production Value Networks) and Integrated Lifecycle Asset Planning (ILAP), began on September 13, 2024, and will continue until June 20, 2025. The training sessions are available for reference on the Eclipse Arrowhead YouTube channel, under the “Data Model Interoperability using Industrial Data Ontology” playlist. Interested participants can access the recordings via this link: YouTube PlaylistExternal link opens in new tab.
The Key Objectives of the OBI-IDO Training are:
- Develop Expertise in IDO: Train professionals in creating modular ontologies based on ISO 23726-3 IDO for industrial data interoperability.
- Enhance Data Integration: Enable participants to use IDO for seamless interoperability across major industrial data models, including DEXPI, CFIHOS, PCA Reference Data, ISO 15926, and ISO 10303 (STEP).
- Strengthen Information Modelling: Clarify the role of IDO within the Information Modelling Framework (IMF) and its application in various industry contexts.
- Facilitate Practical Learning: Offer interactive sessions combining theoretical knowledge, hands-on modeling, and Q&A discussions to reinforce learning.
- Foster a Knowledge Community: Establish a collaborative network of professionals and researchers dedicated to advancing ontology-based interoperability.
The training is structured into content sessions, Q&A discussions, and practical modeling exercises. The 2024 sessions have covered key industrial data models, while the 2025 sessions will expand on deep-dive analyses and practical applications.
The OBI-IDO Training Program is a valuable initiative for professionals seeking to enhance interoperability between standardized industrial data models. By leveraging ISO 23726-3 IDO, this training empowers participants to create modular ontologies that improve data exchange, integration, and governance across industries.
